The Art of Being a Resourceful Executive Assistant

Being an Executive Assistant or Virtual Assistant is no easy feat. It's a role that requires a unique set of skills, and one that often goes unappreciated. But let me tell you, the true superpower of an assistant lies in their resourcefulness.

Navigating the Unknown

As an assistant, you're going to be bombarded with all sorts of random questions and requests. I remember this one time, I was on a work trip, and one of our employees decided to change her flight last minute. She was supposed to leave that night, but she had a minor health concern and didn't want to be on an airplane until she was seen (it had to do with her ear). So, I had to jump into action.

First, I reached out to the hotel to get her a room since she had already checked out. Then, I had to adjust our dinner reservation to accommodate her. But that wasn't all – I even had to help her schedule a last-minute doctor's appointment. Talk about a whirlwind!

Staying Calm Amidst the Chaos

Now, some people might have gotten overwhelmed by all these changes, but that's where an assistant's resourcefulness really shines. Instead of panicking, I just took a deep breath and got to work. I knew that as an assistant, things were going to be constantly changing, and my job was to find solutions, not get bogged down by the problems.

So, I did what any good assistant would do – I turned to my trusty friend, Google. With a few quick searches, I was able to find a nearby clinic that could see our employee, and I got her all set up. And when it came to the dinner reservation, I decided to give up my own seat so that she could enjoy the meal. Sure, some people might have been upset by that, but I knew that being flexible and putting the team first was the way to go.
